Women's' World Cup Final: Japan Vs USA

A gem from Al Murray on his Radio 5 program this morning:
"They should call this "Girl Harbour"...............The Japanese will probably kick off 15 minutes early........The Yanks will probably come back with some strong attacks very late in the second half".

French Horse Artillery

The bases look very Martian again, but they aren't really that colour. I've just got the limber to do and that's the French light cavalry finished for LaSalle.
The tuftage is from Tajaima1 with the lighter stuff down the sides made pre-flockbox.

The figures are from CGM in Spain. They are 1812 regulation and the guns are 6Pdrs (which apparently weren't used in the peninsula but I'm really not bothered about that sort of thing anymore SACRILEGE!)

Getting ready for a (hopefully) final trial of "To The Strongest" for the Thirty Years War

I've used the first trial tufts from the flock box (which I don't officially get until next week), to create a 150mm grid mat with the second ALDI purchase. The Pike and Shot units are on a frontage of 120mm so the 100mm grid for the small ancients games wasn't going to work. This can also be used at the club for 28mm ancient / medieval games (except I don't have any 28mm figs!!!)

Bloody Hell I've Finished A Project

An unheard of event has just occurred - I've finished a project by finishing basing the Imperialist Infantry for my Thirty Years War setup:

6 Infantry Brigades
1 large unit of outcommanded shot
4 bases to be made into small or medium shot units

These photos are a little better than those of the cavalry as the bases haven't come out as red.

Rules (in order of preference):
"To the Strongest" - I've got some amendments which I thing will work for this period.
"Father Tilly" - especially when Steve Danes has finished the latest version to accommodate bigger battles with 15mm figures - NO PRESSURE STEVE if you are reading this!
"Pike and Shotte" - which I'm increasingly unhappy with for various reasons which I'm not going into.

The figures are a mixture of inherited kit (mostly) eBay purchases and a few that I've painted up myself. They are all Minifigs. I still have some unpainted metal which is going on EBay except for the pikes.  I'll hang on to them in case I want to do some ECW command stands.

"TO THE STRONGEST" - Courtesy of LIDL

So last Wednesday at "The Clerb", Dave announced that he had spotted some grass mats at Lidl going for a fiver and by Thursday night I had bought one. They are 2 metres by 1 metre and are ideal gaming mats.

I spent today cutting out a 1200mm by 800mm section and marking it out into 100mm grids for Simon Miller's    "To The Strongest" rules.

Here's the result with my Hundred Years War Armies deployed, both at 150 pts per the rules. The grid has been marked out by applying my home made grass tufts to the mat. Hopefully this will be a good game for a club night. The  mat should roll up easily for transport, the armies are just the right size for a a "finishable" game - possiblty even two or three?

NOTE TO BRWGS MEMBERS - IF YOU WOULD RATHER HAVE A GO AT THIS INSTEAD OF PIKE AND SHOTTE ON WEDNESDAY COULD YOU LEAVE A COMMENT OR EMAIL ME PLEASE.
